PDF Content Split SA

This application helps split a PDF file in several flexible ways without needing the Acrobat editing tools. Whether for attachment size limitation or to create separate statements based on keywords like an account number, this application is equally useful.

Pros: There are several ways one could specify the split boundaries. One would be to specify some unique words, text between these words are extracted. Rest of the text becomes the second part of the split. A second method would be to specify horizontal and vertical co-ordinates of the start point and the end point.

Besides several such methods of specifying splits one could specify how to allocate filenames automatically. That becomes very useful when a batch processing needs to be done. This application does allow batch processing of a set of files.

There’s just one page for interaction. One can specify all the details on this page and simply click on the “process” button and the input file is split as specified. Each process produces reports and one could specify the way one needs the report; for example if a simple text file is enough or one needs a CSV file etc.

Cons: Being able to specify multiple splits would have been a nice feature. A content split program needs to have a complementary splicing program t keep complete generality of use. Unfortunately this package does not have an application that can reverse the split.

Overall: Other than this issue, the application is a nice to have package, overall a 4 star candidate.
